Today has been a relatively busy day so I thought I'd do a round up of today's news stories.
Sauber have signed Giedo Van Der Garde as their test and reserve driver for 2014. He's quick enough and should keep Sutil and Guittierez on their toes! Interesting not to see Sirotkin taking that position!
As I predicted last month, today Caterham have announced Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson. The surprise came in their third driver, Robin Frijns, The Sauber 3rd driver for most of last year.
Tony Fernandes has also said that he will quit F1 if the team doesn't compete this year, he states being tired of spending lots of time and money on a team rooted to the back of the grid. Caterham certainly need some points this year!
McLaren have announced that they will not be announcing their new sponsor in their on-line car reveal on Friday, The reasons for this haven't been announced but one suspects its likely that they are a)struggling to find a new title sponsor OR b)want to time the re-brand with the arrival of Honda in 2015. This makes a lot of sense however it has made for some financial juggling in the team to provide it with a competitive 2014 budget. This also means their isn't likely to be large livery changes and the car that is revealed on Friday is expected to keep the chrome design, perhaps loosing the Vodafone red sections.
McLaren have also today announced that they have now passed their crash tests so should be able to run the car in the Jerez test next week.
Today's Rumour is that Paul Di Resta could potentially end up in a reserve / test role at Mercedes to compliment his new DTM contract.
