Some great news coming out of Switzerland today regarding Sauber F1 team which has been had some well known financial difficulties over the past few years. Today they have announced a major partnership with HP which will be a massive coup because HP are such a big name blue chip company. Hopefully Sauber can afford to compete and have a much better year than their first point-less season in 2014.

Hinwil, 26th January 2015 – The Sauber F1 Team is pleased to announce Hewlett-Packard as Promotional Partner. Hewlett-Packard is one of the largest technology companies worldwide.
This partnership allows the Sauber F1 Team to access the latest technologies from Hewlett-Packard. In close cooperation with the Hewlett-Packard High Performance Computing (HPC) Competence Center in Grenoble, a super computer has been developed which will mainly apply in the areas of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). It is a server specific solution, which is based on the workload optimised HP ProLiant Moonshot servers, as well as Server Blades of the latest Gen9 Generation. The High Performance Computing Cluster is specially designed to fulfill the requirements of the Sauber F1 Team with an extra high performance and efficiency. This will help to improve the processing capacity and significantly reduce the energy consumption in comparsion to the current system.
The high performance computer was established in the wind tunnel building at the Sauber Motorsport AG in Hinwil and will operate from now on.
